24 Hours of Le Mans - I'm not a fan of auto racing and I hardly know how an engine works. Nevertheless I think about '24 Hours of Le Mans' as something extraordinary. Maybe for the headlights that make night brighter. Maybe because all around the race-track people go on with daily things while other people move inside low, convex, colorfull, very unusual cars at wind speed. Maybe because it seems the last day of the year.
I saw the race online few weeks ago, and this is one of the sketches I made. Others to follow.

Bologna - A suburb street.

Bologna - The afternoon was cloudy and muggy but the park bench on the artificial hill was confortable. This is just the view from that bench.

Rimini - When I was in my first childwood I lived in Rimini and every year, from May to September, I had beautiful days on the beach with my mother and my eleven-months-older-than-me sister. On the way to the sea there was a very huge camera. The front of it could easily open and inside a man sold films, little cheap cameras, the developed pictures of your film.
I was at Rimini last month and the camera is still there. Now it's just a ruin; what a pity! A warning of danger is on the upper right side and someone has written love words with blue paint.

Bologna - This is just a view from my kitchen's window sketched in a grey yesterday.

22° Sketchcrawl

Bologna - Last sunday I was at my first sketchcrawl. There I had the great pleasure to meet and speak for long time with Miguel Herranz whose work I admired on the web.
It was also a great pleasure to meet the other sketchers. Work all at the same time, and share with them tricks and tools was very interesting and funny.
I'd like to thank very much the sketcher (sorry, I don't remember the name) who totally unaware sat for me.

One more sketch I made.

Bologna - Last Friday was a pleasant, sunny morning for sketching.
I was in a little town, not far from Bologna, called Castel Maggiore, and there I found these "modern architectures with two airplanes" taking off from Bologna Airport during the time I needed to complete the sketch.

Bologna - Not a good idea to sketch the railway station yesterday morning. After few minutes a row of busses hid me the setting. Twenty minutes later the row was still there. I gave up.

Bologna - A very good day yesterday. Warm but not too much; windy but not too much; sunny.
This two buildings are next to a park. Early in the morning you can choose your favourite bench and spend good time sketching.

Later, in the afternoon, I was in the city centre. The sun was gone but it was still pleasantly warm.

HAPPY EASTER TO EVERYBODY!

Bologna - This is what I see from my home.
This time I used a Pigma Micron 0,8, and Aquaflo Water Brush; I usually use a Micron 0,1 with Da Vinci travel brush.

Bologna - This is the place where I worked for five years. Now it's closed, for it bankrupted few years ago.

Tuesday, 31 March 2009

Bologna - It was early in the morning; the place was still close and everything was calm.
I'm not really greedy of food they usually serve but I am fond of Fred's people. I thought of all his wonderful works while I was sketching this, of course!

Maddalena di Cazzano - Not far from Bologna there is Maddalena di Cazzano. In this countryside place I saw few days ago this building; it was the tractor, indeed, that first cought my attention. Only later I discovered that the building I had sketched had a name, Casino Bertuzzini, and was very likely built in 16th century. In 17th century it was used as summer residence by Bertuzzini Family, one of the most important in the spot, and then in 18th century turned into a school.
